Culture Mile and Foundation for Future London have partnered on the FUSION PRIZE, a new competition - with a £50,000 prize fund - to find innovative ways to upskill future generations, empowering them to meet the demands of today’s employers.
The FUSION PRIZE invites schools, universities, charities, businesses and others to work together and pitch ideas for innovative programmes or products designed to develop the creative, communication, organisational and thinking skills of London’s children or young people through cultural experiences.
FUSION PRIZE SYMPOSIUMS
Between now and the closing date in January 2020, participants can expect a host of inspiring events to either find collaborators or to fine tune their ideas.
Having launched publicly on 17 June 2019, the first major event that will bring together anyone interested is in September, the first of three FUSION PRIZE SYMPOSIUMS.
FUSION PRIZE SYMPOSIUMS have been convened to provide inspiration and support to anyone keen to progress and hone an idea. At the end of the process, in April 2020, one solution will be awarded £50,000 to develop.
Fusion Prize October Symposium: THE NEED
17 September 13.30 - 17.30, followed by networking, Barbican
Open to all with an interest in skills development, creativity, innovation and social mobility.This activity-packed event will focus on THE NEED that successful solutions must address- the urgent issue of the growing skills gap across all sectors. Panel discussions, workshops, performances and networking opportunities will set the scene for the coming months sparking ideas and collaborations that will support possible applicants.
Fusion Prize October Symposium: THE HOW
18 October 13.30 - 17.30, followed by networking, Plexal, East Bank
The second Fusion Prize Symposium will focus on THE HOW of skills development. Attendees and potential applicants will have the chance to hear from experts as well as participating in workshops aimed at helping develop their own ideas. We’ll gather some of the most exciting practitioners working in the innovation, creative, and educative sectors to talk about what works and what doesn’t, providing would-be teams with the tools they need to progress their ideas.
Fusion Prize November Symposium: THE TEST
Date, time and venue TBC
The third and final Symposium will be THE TEST. Applicants will have the chance to test their ideas with user groups, educators and employers in the most ambitious mass-consultation event the cultural sector has ever seen. This is the chance to explore ideas in depth with the young people that will benefit from them, while receiving advice from experts. Come ready to share your ideas and receive both constructive feedback and support in making them the best applications that they can be.
